Elrond

Here's Elrond (nearly finished on the right and more work to be done on the left)

I sprayed these metal models first with Humbrol 'Primer 1' and then with Chaos Black. This after a good detergent wash in hot water. I've had no trouble with paint coming off as I've been working on them.

One is for Sheree's birthday present.

Missing Elf

Here's the missing Galadhrim warrior though it was only the spear and his right hand that went astray. It turned up after I'd sawn him off at the elbow and attached a sword arm from a knight (now carrying the banner) He looks rather dainty, especially with that hair. I'm thinking of calling him Donald. I don't know why he's burst into song in the middle of a battle though.

The Morannon Orc's toasting fork is now a little less droopy than before. I simply glued it back up rather than drilling through the hand and fixing it properly. Lazy swine!

Morannon Orcs arrive

A brief flicker of sun allowed me to take some shots of the Morannon Orcs.

Simple enough to paint and, I think, a good looking bunch.
Yes, I'm aware that the one on the right, above, needs to take his trident back to the workshop to have the shaft straightened out.

That's a little task for this afternoon.
I had fun with the skin colours on these chaps so, at some point, I will go back to all the other orcs and give them a little variety too.

I think they are all dark flesh at the moment like their Uruk Hai cousins.
Another task is to consider giving more of them shields.

There are about half a dozen spare ones all painted up though I'll have to mix up some green stuff and make similar 'handles' to the present ones.
No one ever gives you a good back view and their red pants and skirts are too chic to miss.

It's a shame to see so little of them - they run away, so rarely.

Morannon Orcs are on their way

These guys have been ready for battle for the past two days but to take a decent photo, I await some sunshine.

Just as proof that they are around, here's three of them in various colours.

I like them and look forward to having them under commanders.

Galadhrim yet again

Just seeing if these pics are any better as we had some watery sunshine.

Galadhrim again

Finally the additional Elves are here.

They do take a while anyway as there are lots of colour changes across these models but Christmas and this dread bug have taken at least two weeks out of painting time.

I've tried to give them different poses or heads or put shields in a different place.

The guys hanging around in the background are the 'old' Galadhrim for comparison.

The shields of the four spearmen on the left are at different angles whilst it's the spear itself that is changed in the two chaps on the right.

The swordsmen were simple given different heads (mouth open/shut) though the one able to carry a shield has his at a different angle to the 'old' one at the back.

There was nothing I could do with the archers, either, apart from moving heads about.

However, the one with the loose bow in hand gave a little flexibility (see last pic)

Next up are some Morannon Orcs which should be a great deal quicker.

By the way, the fourth spearman lost his arm though I may get him back in line by utilising the spare arm from the Knight carrying the banner.

Armless Elf

I've cleaned up the Great Beast and his orc passengers but set them aside as I have some Elves, Morannon Orcs and Warriors of Minas Tirith spray coated and ready to paint.. The Elves are under way at the moment but tragedy has struck. One of them has lost an arm. I'll be trying to convert some of the Minas Tirith warriors into Osgiliath Veterans but the orcs will follow the Elves.

Delays because of Christmas and illness.
