Note that I've been using glue/sand for the bases on these Dwarves and on Gandalf and Bilbo. This was partly following the decision to base them as were the hobbits, at least in colour with added grass. The main reason was that I've used Vallejo Earth Texture paint on most models for ages but there are several things that make it pointless. It's coloured, yet I paint it. It's more difficult to apply than glue. It costs much more. It's only advantage seems to be its drying time. I'll revert to it for the remaining 18 Goblins that are up next.
