The Fellowship, Gandalf

Gandalf the Grey arrives, precisely when he means to.

That's mostly because he's easy peasy.

As with all the other shots, he seems too weather beaten.

In fact, that's just slightly darkened Elf Flesh.

I must get around to sorting out colour balance on the camera.

Boromir is coming along but we're busy over the next week and then follows a Test Match.

The new chap, Westley. Isn't he that ace swordsman from Princess Bride? If so, that should help, 'the flashing blade' and all that. Sorry. Off subject.

I used a weak wash of Guilliman Blue on the crystal

Gandalf is a wily old goat, you can't pin him down with bright colours. He's perfectly satisfied with grey. A modest man, he knows what suits him. Of course, this makes it difficult when painting him. Which, on reflection, is probably what he intended all along. He's not just wily, he's ockerd. The clue is in the name, I suppose. He doesn't call himself Gandalf the Grey for nothing.... He charges !!! John

A thought strikes me. The apotheosis of Gandalf means, I assume, that if you had a spare figure of him and painted it white you'd have two distinct avatars of the great wizard. Both the grey and the white. You might need to do a little micro-surgery, so that arms, legs, wand or sword are positioned differently. Is it possible ? You're dealing with a wizard after all, all you need is his goodwill and you could do almost anything. John

A spare figure is not needed John. I think there are about six different Gandalf models and perhaps more of Aragorn in different poses. I already have a Gandalf the White on horseback and a Gandalf the Grey in the mines of Moria which, I believe, this one is a repeat of.
